Greater ManchesterSalford Women’s ServiceImagine have been commissioned by the Department of Health to provide the North West Women Only High Support Community Support Service.
The service will open during Jan/Feb 08 and will be situated in Salford. It will accommodate 8 women who could be described as having complex mental health needs and may have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.
Imagine’s model has a strong social inclusion element to it as well as an ethos of hope and recovery. Service users will be supported at their own pace towards sustained recovery and independent living.
The housing provider is Manchester Methodist Housing Association, the building will be new and will offer 8 x 2 bedroomed apartments with enclosed wall gardens and generous communal space.
The service could be described as a therapeutic milieu which will provide a high level of psychological containment to enable recovery from trauma.
Staff will be recruited who are empathic and committed to working in Women’s Services. A female only staff team will be recruited and support workers with experience of providing counselling, relaxation, complementary therapies, listening skills, aromatherapy, art therapy, will be recruited. The Women’s Manager postholder will be in post by May 07 and will start to work with the first 8 women identified prior to the service opening. |
